Work-Life balance is not allocating your time equally between work and family or personal demands on a 50%/50% equation. It is a matter of allocating your available time more wisely among all the segments of your life.

Researching deeply Work-life balance may bring up several sources where to increase your personal knowledge of what we talk about when we talk about Work-Life Balance (powered by R. Carver). Nevertheless, a grey area is a “cure” or solution to alleviate the drastic consequences in its lack.
Typically, the interest in phenomenon work-life balance turns into two couples of conflicts:
1)      Work-family
2)      Family-Work
Employees feel a deeper impact on work-family, where the job’s related matters have an effect on their marital satisfaction. However, this is not all. A straight consequence of a family impact, can turn into negative effect on their job performance:
–          Absenteeism
–          Depression
–          Poor Physical Health

Over the last few years, many innovative companies have become sensitive around this topic. They have put efforts in many attempts to improve their internal policies and meet the modern needs of their employees. Unfortunately, having a modern policy is not enough to impact achieve a good work-life balance. Firstly, the policies must be encouraged by the company management who needs to be fully committed to this matter. Secondly, a simple policy does not matter when there not any sustainable legislation in support.

Tolbert” where it is said that a high level of discretion and control over the conditions of work (control over timing and place) have a good impact on employees’ work-life balance. However, many supervisors choose to avoid the Home Office solution because frightened by loss of control.

What needs to be done?

Too little is known about how to improve work-life balance. Currently we can summarize few points:
–          Take control of your time
–          Put your health first
–          Think of “Working to live” more than “Living to Work”.
